Shadow

Individuals assigned to Shadow others were expected to learn their mentor's role and job to serve Silo 18. When Juliette Nichols arrived in the Deep Down, she was assigned to Shadow Knox. The day before George Wilkins died, Terry Cooper was assigned to Juliette as her Shadow. Robert Sims was his father's Shadow, and later Sims officially took Douglas Trumbull as his Shadow, shortly before murdering him for the good of the Silo. Bernard Holland had been negligent in choosing a Shadow, and Robert Sims believed the was the correct choice. However, Sims' actions, such as sending a Judicial team to escort his wife and son home during a crisis, led Bernard to wonder if Sims would be a good candidate for the role.
