Diego is a recurring character in the Apple TV+ series Silo. He is a Watcher monitoring Silo 18. Diego is portrayed by Akie Kotabe, first appearing in the episode "The Relic".

Biography[]

Diego is one of the Watchers in Silo 18, tasked with monitoring the residents for seditious or unlawful behavior that threatens Silo 18. Diego was on duty when he saw Sheriff Juliette Nichols begin examining a Relic—a book titled "Amazing Adventures in Georgia: A Travel Guide for Kids". He ordered one of the other Watchers to inform their superior even though it was the middle of the night.[1]

Under Robert Sims' supervision, Diego and the other Watchers attempted to track Sheriff Nichols around Silo 18, reporting that she went to Mids Medical to see Gloria Hildebrandt. Eventually, Nichols went back to visit Gloria but they missed it due to not having complete camera coverage in the area. Nichols took Gloria back to her room after meeting her elsewhere, and Diego, along with Sims and other Watchers, observed her covering the camera in the mirror after realising that she now knew about them.[2]

Bernard Holland ordered Diego to search for a hard drive plugged into the network with the serial number 18. Diego was confused as hard drives had nine digit serial numbers, but Bernard insisted to search for it. The system found the drive, pinging it as being plugged into a computer in Robert Sims apartment. The drive later appeared in the system plugged into a system on Level 98, but it was determined to be a false signal.[3] With Sheriff Nichols on the run, Diego was monitoring the systems to see where the hard drive was being plugged into the system. He found it being used at a signal booster on Level 126 and informed Bernard Holland. Shortly after, the monitor room screens began showing a video of the outside world full of life. Bernard ordered them to all turn away and shut down the system, then told them to unsee everything and not speak of it.[4]
