Official Biography[]
Holston's wife, Allison is a strong and independent thinker with a sense of humor, and a great partner to her husband.
Biography[]
Allison was born in Silo 18 around Year 101 AR,[2] and she married Holston Becker on May 5, Year 126 AR. When Holston became Sheriff, they resided in the Sheriff's Apartment on Level 6. Allison worked in the Silo's IT Department, and over the course of her marriage to Holston they were twice granted Reproductive Clearance to conceive a child. In Year 139 AR, Allison and Holston were cleared to try to conceive a child for the third and final time. Visiting Doctor Leonard, Allison had her birth control implant removed, giving her and Holston a year to have a baby.[1]
Allison and Holston had difficulty conceiving a child despite trying nearly every day. Allison talks with Gloria Hildebrandt, who believes there are greater forces at work as to why she can't have a baby. Allison also meets the programmer George Wilkins, who has an old hard drive from before the Rebellion. Using instructions on how to recover deleted files posted on a BBS by Allison, George finds there are files on the drive but he can't access them. Arranging for Allison to visit his repair shop in the Mids, George shows her the hard drive and Allison views a video recording of Jane Carmody's Cleaning that seems to show the world Outside is green and alive, rather than the wasteland that they believe it to be. Allison goes back to Gloria, and is told that "they" do not want a person like her to have a baby.[1]
Convinced that they are being lied to, Allison performs self-surgery on herself and finds that her birth control implant was never actually removed. She confronts Holston with the truth, knowing he would need the evidence before he could believe her. While Holston runs to get a doctor, Allison goes to the Level 1 Cafeteria and begins to tell everyone there that the world outside the Silo is actually green and full of life. Holston tries to calm her, but Allison proclaims she wants to go outside, much to her husbands' horror. Believing that the world Outside is not a death sentence, Allison tells her husband that if it is as she believes, she will clean the sensors. If the world is not green and alive, then she will not clean and simply walk away. When Allison leaves the Silo, the residents watch as she willingly cleans the sensor, then walks away, only for her to succumb to the toxic atmosphere outside and collapse before making it up the hill.[1]
Personality[]
Allison is a kind woman with a strong sense of humor who supports her husband, Sheriff Holston Becker. She is also an independent thinker with an inquisitive nature. She believes that there are too many rules in the Silo, and knowingly breaks the IT Department processes if she feels that they are too strict, such as posting instructions to the BBS about recovering deleted files in an effort to reduce the number of service calls. Allison wonders why knowledge from before the Rebellion is banned, and why even owning a Relic can get an individual sentenced to the mines.[1]
